about.

Over the course of two weeks, we worked intensively with 42 students to explore movement in the collection of the National Gallery. Considering the movement in the artwork, we created a new exhibition and a new dance piece that were exhibited and performed in the galleries, activating the spaces with young perspectives and attracting new audiences.

my role.

In my role as Participation Manager at Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, I was lucky enough to lead on this collaboration with The National Gallery. I co-conceived the project and its content and managed the collaboration from concept to evaluation. The project has since been run again with both schools and the gallery during the pandemic and is a model that could be taken forward with any gallery or school looking to try the project. Please do get in touch if you think this might interest you, we (myself and Alice Odin, Learning Manager) would love to hear from you.
